Recognize the vintage photo on your left?  If you have been to Phantom in the last 80 plus years then you probably know it’s the Health Lodge, a building that hasn’t really been altered all that much since it was first built.

That is all about to change.

Thanks to an extremely generous donation on behalf of the Richardson family, the Health Lodge is being renovated from top to bottom....all while insuring the architectural integrity of the style of the building, which is very much like Alford Lodge.

State law and regulations prohibit erecting a new structure on the site, due to its proximity to the lakeshore.  But Phantom was able to work with the DNR to allow the existing structure to remain. The contractor is Paradise Builders out of Waukesha and they guarantee to be finished in time for camp this summer.  They have already to begun work in earnest and will ramp up the schedule once the weather warms up a bit.

The old lodge has been gutted and work has begun framing out the upper level and has poured the new concrete floor for the lower level.

The really amazing thing about this project is that it demonstrates the power of positive change brought about by the generosity of the Richardson family.  You too can make a difference at camp and there are projects on all sorts of levels that need your help.  For more information on how you can help camp – contact us at info@PhantomLakeAlumni.com

Check back next month for an update on construction progress.
